What does betong klass 1 mean?
Betong klass 1 is the highest competence level for in-situ casting of concrete in Sweden. Certification in klass 1 is required when casting concrete with a strength class above C25/30 — that is, for the most advanced and demanding concrete works in construction and infrastructure.
Typical works requiring betong klass 1 certification:
- Bridges and viaducts – structures with high demands on strength and durability
- Tunnels and rock caverns – shotcrete and structural concrete in demanding environments
- Railway structures – platforms, retaining walls and concrete works per Trafikverket’s requirements
- Underwater casting – concrete works below water with strict tolerance requirements
- Prestressed concrete – advanced structures with pre-tensioned reinforcement

Betong klass 1
We are certified for in-situ casting of concrete at competence class 1 – the highest level. This means we can lead and supervise concrete casting of structures with a concrete strength class of C28/35 and above, as well as works requiring specialist expertise in cement chemistry, mix design and advanced formwork construction.
Betong klass 2
For concrete works at competence class 2, Agicon’s team holds full certification. Klass 2 covers in-situ casting of concrete up to strength class C25/30 and is a requirement for most residential and commercial construction projects.
Underwater casting
Agicon is certified for concrete casting underwater – a highly specialised competence required for quay and harbour structures, bridge piers below the waterline and other demanding marine environments. The certification is issued in accordance with applicable Swedish standards and Trafikverket’s requirements.

What is the difference between betong klass 1 and klass 2?
Betong klass 1 is the highest competence level and is required for casting with concrete strength above C25/30, as well as for prestressed concrete, shotcrete, bridge construction and underwater casting. Klass 2 covers simpler concrete works with lower strength requirements. For most infrastructure projects, klass 1 competence is required.
Do all infrastructure projects require betong klass 1?
